CONFERENCIA: Participación en el V Simposio de Arte y Ciencia CNIO Arte 2024: El arte, la ciencia y la ecología ante el cambio climático
Todo un honor participar como ponente en el V Simposio de Arte y Ciencia: El arte, la ciencia y la ecología ante el cambio climático, organizado por CNIOARTE 2024, y dirigido por Carlos Jiménez Moreno. Tendrá lugar el próximo miércoles, 21 de febrero, en el Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza.
Los Simposios de Arte y Ciencia del Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas (CNIO) tienen como objetivo promover el diálogo entre artistas y científicos, y se enmarcan en la iniciativa CNIO Arte.
Cada año, CNIO Arte facilita la interacción entre científicos y artistas de nivel internacional para reflexionar sobre temas trascendentes de la humanidad a través de la ciencia, desde la física cuántica a los orígenes de la biología molecular. Artistas de la talla de Eva Lootz, Carmen Calvo, Chema Madoz, Daniel Canogar, Susana Solano y Amparo Garrido han interactuado con científicos/as como Margarita Salas, Juan Luis Arsuaga, Ignacio Cirac, Sarah Teichmann y Elizabeth Blackburn. Estas colaboraciones culminan con la creación de obras de arte que pasan a ser parte del patrimonio del CNIO.
En la edición CNIO Arte 2024 se ha contado con la pareja formada por Dora García, Premio Nacional de Artes Plásticas 2021, y David Nogués-Bravo, macroecólogo del Globe Institute de Copenhague. Bajo el tema del cambio climático y la pérdida de la biodiversidad, Dora García ha creado una pieza audiovisual, END (dos prólogos), a partir del viaje al archipiélago de Svalbard, en el Ártico, que emprendieron juntos el científico y la artista.
Ambos participan en el V Simposio de Arte y Ciencia que se celebra el 21 de febrero en colaboración con el Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, titulado “El arte, la ciencia y la ecología ante el cambio climático” y que cuenta también con las ponencias de otros expertos como Carlos Jiménez, profesor emérito de Estética de la Universidad Europea de Madrid, historiador y crítico de arte; Esther Pizarro, artista multidisciplinar, investigadora y catedrática de la Universidad Europea de Madrid; Anna Traveset, bióloga e investigadora del CSIC, y Jaime Vindel, historiador del arte y la cultura e investigador del CSIC.
Tras sus exposiciones, los ponentes participan junto con Maria Blasco y Juan de Nieves, directora y comisario de CNIO Arte, respectivamente, en una mesa redonda concebida como un enriquecedor diálogo reflexivo para tratar de arrojar luz, desde sus diferentes disciplinas y perspectivas, sobre la trascendente temática propuesta.

The Art and Science Symposiums of the Spanish National Cancer Research Center (CNIO) aim to promote dialogue between artists and scientists, and are part of the CNIO Arte initiative.
Each year, CNIO Arte facilitates interaction between scientists and artists of international renown to reflect on transcendental issues of humanity through science, from quantum physics to the origins of molecular biology. Artists of the stature of Eva Lootz, Carmen Calvo, Chema Madoz, Daniel Canogar, Susana Solano and Amparo Garrido have interacted with scientists such as Margarita Salas, Juan Luis Arsuaga, Ignacio Cirac, Sarah Teichmann and Elizabeth Blackburn. These collaborations culminate in the creation of works of art that become part of CNIO's heritage.
The CNIO Arte 2024 edition featured the pair formed by Dora García, winner of the 2021 National Visual Arts Award, and David Nogués-Bravo, macroecologist at the Globe Institute in Copenhagen. Under the theme of climate change and biodiversity loss, Dora García has created an audiovisual piece, END (two prologues), based on the trip to the archipelago of Svalbard, in the Arctic, that the scientist and the artist undertook together.
Both are participating in the 5th Art and Science Symposium to be held on February 21 in collaboration with the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, entitled "Art, science and ecology in the face of climate change", which will also feature presentations by other experts such as Carlos Jiménez, professor emeritus of Aesthetics at the European University of Madrid, historian and art critic; Esther Pizarro, multidisciplinary artist, researcher and professor at the European University of Madrid; Anna Traveset, biologist and researcher at the CSIC, and Jaime Vindel, art and culture historian and researcher at the CSIC.
After their presentations, the speakers will participate with Maria Blasco and Juan de Nieves, director and curator of CNIO Arte, respectively, in a round table discussion conceived as an enriching reflective dialogue to try to shed light, from their different disciplines and perspectives, on the transcendent subject matter proposed.
