Femicide is the murder of a woman because she is a woman. The concept defines an act of the utmost seriousness in a cultural and institutional context of discrimination and gender violence. 

The installation Translucent Feminicide visualises, in the form of a three-dimensional diagram, the data of the 99 murders committed in Spain in 2017. Three formal and conceptual axes provide statistical evidence of this terrible social scourge.

Suspended in space, 49 crystalline test tubes, containing an intense reddish liquid, allude to the murders classified within the official typology of intimate femicide (women murdered by a man with whom they were or had been in a relationship). The level of liquid in the test tubes indicates the age range of death of each of these victims, as well as showing the blood spilt by these women. 

On the vertical canvas, a diagram of lines is articulated, whose nodes converge in the number of murders (per month) that occurred throughout the year, until a total figure of 99 is reached. On the horizontal plane of the floor, a constellation of 99 circles of red dust will reinforce the three-dimensional graph constructed from the official figures of the murders that took place in Spain last year, due to gender violence.

A diagrammatic cartography, based on truthful data, and constructed through the suspension of a fragile and tense structure, which addresses the vulnerability of the female condition, through the use of two highly symbolic materials: glass and water.
