Municipal Headquarters of Latina, Madrid
Functional Topography constitutes a metaphorical map of the Latina district, where it is located. The environment, the landscape, the history, the urban framework and the architectural constructions have been the source of inspiration for the creation of this sculptural group.
The interesting morphology of the Latina district, as well as the inorganic urban growth that it has experienced throughout its history, have determined the development of this project. Depending on the four main areas into which the district is divided, the sculptural idea evolves from the plane to the space, distinguishing four volumes in the intervention (two of them function as a table and the other two as seats). Five cypress trees, distributed at an angle and parallel to the south and west facades of the building's interior patio, create a place for rest and privacy.
