The installation The Dark Night interprets the eight grades that Saint John of the Cross had to reach in the acquisition of his mystical knowledge. The grades, symbolised by eight black cubes, represent through different visual metaphors the following states: restlessness, search, need to act, self-mastery, proximity-vislumbramiento, nearness, achievement and return to reality. Inside each cube there is a light timer with very slow, alternating times, so that it is impossible to see the entire installation, whether in full light or in absolute darkness. The light symbolises that inner light which is so important and necessary in the attainment of mystical knowledge. The installation thus acquires a mysterious and lively air that traps the spectator in the understanding of the sequence and the images it shows us.
