City Connect :: Patronando Madrid interprets the central core of the Spanish capital as a matrix, a sculptural loom, where multiple threads "weave" different situations in the city, a rhizome of mobility and urban connectivity. The city understood as a fabric where different routes and possibilities can be patterned and mapped. Madrid's M30 is an "urban motorway" that has the potential to be progressively transformed into an Ecobulevar, an axis of urban revitalisation, of collective transport and exchange, in dialogue with the urban fabric of the heart of the city. The Space Syntax (Fundación Metrópoli) studies inspired this installation, which identifies five areas of accessibility and centrality within the capital. Overlapping lines, routes and patterns that weave the network through which urban flows circulate. The resulting map resembles a rhizome, a kind of burrow, a complex and random network of paths whose destination is undefined and whose process is open, establishing a parallelism between the textile and cartographic worlds.
